Bright Young Brits

Delighted to be recognised for my innovative approach to fashion by the Bright Young Brits initiative,I was commissioned by Ford UK as result. Here the Ford project is featured in the Spring 2012 of the Bright Young Brits Journal – which seeks to celebrate new British creativity and remarkable talent – it is distributed internationally to a media, government, educational and commercial readership.

Musician Gabby Young also features. We met a few years ago and gabby was keen to try on some pieces, she took a frock coat, lace dress and collar on tour. I love the pictures of her below.

You can check out Gabby  here!

This is my owl! I choose the colour blue to represent the fashion section of BYB.

Scottish Fashion Awards 2012

All at Spencer Clothing are delighted to be short listed at the prestigious Scottish Fashion Awards this year. Colin and I have worked hard to produce a fresh new commercial brand designed in Scotland.
Only launching in January this year we are honoured to be up there with some of the best names in the industry.

I noted a wealth of the SFA talent, from graduates to designers, have all been down to good old Galashiels to study at Heriot Watt University where I once studied myself, a great university which is sending the Scottish fashion elite out in force!

Congratulations to all the nominees, looking forward to seeing you all on the red carpet!

Judy R Clark wins Jolomo Award!

I had the honour of meeting John Lowrie Morrison (Jolomo) last week at an awards ceremony organised by PSYBT. The afternoon comprised of  a lovely lunch followed by a round of interviews and then the big prize giving. It was a nervous wait for all but well worth it, delighted to have won! Second and third place respectively went to Lauren Crawford who lives in fife and designs handwoven textiles and Dundee based silversmith Geena Delaney.

Jolomo and Judy

The Jolomo PSYBT Awards were launched in March 2008 with the help of a
£10,000 donation from Jolomo to inspire more young people with arts and
crafts backgrounds living in North West Scotland and the Highlands and
Islands to set up their own businesses. This year the awards and the
prize money were extended to include eligible arts and crafts businesses
throughout the whole of Scotland.

Gabby Young and some other Animals including Bright Young Brits!

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Gabby Young, a fantastic musician who is hitting international headlines! We met at Gabby’s agents house and were greeted by the most tasty croissants smothered in jam with endless cups of tea. I opened my suitcase of jackets and dresses and I think Gabby fell in love with each and every one of them; she shares my love of cuffs, collars and bustles so it was the perfect match!

‘Dressing up’ is an essential part of Gabby’s stage presence. I had the pleasure of going to the Barbican to watch Gabby and the Other Animals perform – she has quite a crew!  A ten pieces brass band, piano man, drummer, guitarist – the works!

A few weeks ago Gabby jetted of on her world tour, one of my frock coats packed in her suitcase and I hear it has been on a photoshoot in Japan…nice work Gabby – I can not wait to see the pictures!  She is an inspirational young musician who I really look forward to working with… gabbyyoungandotheranimals.com
